Board Of Trustees

The Restore Trust Board of Trustees ensure good governance, set the strategic direction of the organisation and hold the directors accountable for the effective management of its projects and services.

The organisation benefits hugely from the advice and guidance that is provided by its Trustees, all of whom are unpaid volunteers. Their expertise cover finance, criminal justice, voluntary sector, education and business, amongst other things.

The Restore Trust is always looking to enhance the board’s breath of experience and welcomes offers of support from potential new members.

Suzanne Thompson Chief Executive Officer
Suzanne Thompson is chief executive officer and founding member of The Restore Trust and a member of the company's board of directors. ... Suzanne has a demonstrated history of working in public services and over 20 years experience of working in Criminal Justice. Skilled in Business Process, Coaching, Government, Entrepreneurship, and Team Building. Strong business development professional with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) focused in Social Work from University of the West of England. She has been named as one of the 'Top 100 Inspirational West Women of the Year 2019' who have made a difference in their communities. She has recently set up a new Charity called 'The Key- Unlock Potential' with the aim of creating paid employment for people leaving prison to assist them in desisting from crime and contributing positively to their local communities.

Chris Scriven Executive Director
Chris Scriven has 20 years’ experience as an education professional within Further and Higher Education. He has proven record of implementing successful initiatives with a leaner focused approach, that have positive impacts, improving quality and the learner experience. He has many years’ experience of designing and delivering curriculum for adults both for pre-employment and further skills. Chris is a founding member of the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) Higher and Degree Apprenticeship advisory group and was part of the group to produce the National Characteristic Statements for Apprenticeships, which were published July 2019. He was a writer and a reader for the new QAA UK quality code Advice and Guidance published at the end of November 2018, leading the writing group and authoring of the introduction to Partnerships. As well as leading the education and training at The Restore Trust, Chris is developing and implementing the External Quality Assurance programme for End Point Assessment Organisations (EPAO) that are delivering Higher and Degree Apprenticeships.

Daniel McHugh Board Chairman
Daniel is an experienced education manager currently working at the University of Bristol as the Deputy School Manager for the Bristol Dental School. Daniel has over 20 years of experience in Further and Higher education and is experienced and knowledgeable of requirements for inspections, including Ofsted. Daniel has experience of working closely the MOJ from his time managing the national education contract for the National Offender Management Service (NOMS).
Daniel has over 10 years’ experience of sitting on boards of governors for organisations in the education sector. Most recently he was chair of governors at a local primary.

Martin Elvy Trustees
Martin is an experienced School Business Manager with a demonstrated history of working in the financial services industry. He is currently working for a Pupil Referral Unit in South Glos. Martin has extensive experience of education funding, including further education and the financial governance required for training organisations. Martin has a strong track record of financial governance and has sat on many boards to scrutinise and support the financial performance of the organisations. He has experience and qualifications in both accounting and auditing.

Sharon Nelmes Trustees
Sharon is an experienced social worker professional, with over 30 years of experience within the safeguarding and social services sector, also working with Local Government Authorities as a Best Interests Assessor.
Sharon has extensive experience and understanding of Safeguarding processes, in particular expert knowledge of working with vulnerable adults within the CQF framework.
Sharon is committed to supporting vulnerable adults to achieve their full potential and is also a qualified life coach, recognising the importance of effective mental health and well being practice for both service users and staff.
